Cake:
1/2 C butter
1/2 C oil
4 T cocoa powder
1 C water
2 C flour
1 t baking soda
2 C sugar
1/2 C buttermilk
2 eggs
1 t cinnamon (It calls for 1 t, but that really isn't enough... I say closer to a T or two)
1 t vanilla
Combine butter, oil, cocoa and water in sauce pan. Heat until cocoa is melted.
Combine flour, baking soda, sugar, milk, eggs, cinnamon and vanilla in a large bowl. Combine with first mixture.
Pour batter into a greased 12x18 pan. Bake 20-25 minutes at 350 degrees.
Fantastic fudge frosting:
1 1/2 C sugar
1/4 C cocoa powder
1 T cinnamon
1/4 t salt
1/4 C butter
1/2 C evaporated milk or half & half
1 t vanilla extract
In a heavy medium saucepan, combine the sugar, cocoa, and salt, and stir to mix everything well. Add the butter and place over medium hear, stirring to melt the butter and mix into a smooth sauce.
Add the milk, stir well, and bring the frosting to a lively boil, stirring often.
Adjust the heat to maintain an active but gentle boil, and cook for 5 minutes, stirring often. When frosting begins to thicken, remove from heat, stir in the vanilla, and set aside to cool for about 20 minutes.
Beat frosting until it is shiny and frost the cake.
